Program of TC and Hands-on Classes

The October 2004 FIRST Technical Colloquium (TC) (Oct 04-05) and Steering Committee Meetings (Oct 06-07) are hosted by Internet Security Systems (ISS) at their campus in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Your local hosts are Peter Allor and Michael Warfield.

Attendance is open for FIRST Team members only, and no attendance fee will be required.

On Monday October 04 the TC plenary will be held, coordinated by Ian Cook, Steve Romig and Don Stikvoort.

On Tuesday October 05 the hands-on classes will be entertained, coordinated by Wietse Venema and Jacomo Piccolini.

The program for both 04 (TC) and 05 (hands-on classes) October 2004 is available, encrypted in the current FIRST key. The TC and classes both run from 08:30 to approximately 17:30 local time.

For international flights it is advisable to fly to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, GA USA (ATL). Due to security delays at the Atlanta airport, ISS recommends that you plan to schedule your return flight after 20:00 local time if you leave on the same day that the TC or classes end.

Directions to the ISS Campus

From the recommended hotels: the listed hotels will provide complimentary transportation to and from our facility. Check with the concierge or reception desk in advance please.

From Atlanta International Airport: Start out going West on S TERMINAL PKWY toward AIRPORT BLVD (0.29 miles). Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto AIRPORT BLVD (0.68 miles). AIRPORT BLVD becomes N TERMINAL PKWY (0.29 miles). Merge onto I-85 N toward I-75 N/ATLANTA (14.51 miles). Merge onto GA-400 N via exit number 87 toward BUCKHEAD/CUMMING (Portions toll) (8.15 miles). Take the exit- exit number 5A- toward DUNWOODY (0.29 miles). Merge onto ABERNATHY RD NE (0.21 miles). Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto MT VERNON HWY NE (0.50 miles). Turn LEFT onto BARFIELD RD NE (0.24 miles). You will see the new ISS campus on the left. Visitor Parking is behind the building, on Level 4.

From the NORTH: take GA 400 South and take Exit 5 (Dunwoody Sandy Springs). At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right onto Abernathy Road. At the first light turn left onto Barfield Road. Go through the next light (Mt. Vernon Highway) you will see the new ISS campus on the left. Visitor Parking is behind the building, on Level 4.

From the SOUTH: I-75 North and I-85 North converge south of Atlanta and stay together through downtown. Stay on I-85 North when I-75 splits off again north of downtown. Several miles later GA 400 will exit off to the right. Follow GA 400 North past I-285 and take Exit 5A (Dunwoody Sandy Springs). This will ramp you onto Abernathy Road. At the first light turn right onto Peachtree-Dunwoody Road, and then at the next light take another right onto Mr. Vernon Highway. Cross back over GA 400, and turn left onto Barfield Road. You will see the new ISS campus on the left. Visitor Parking is behind the building, on Level 4.

From the EAST: Take I-285 Westbound to GA 400 North and take Exit 5A (Dunwoody Sandy Springs). This will ramp you onto Abernathy Road. At the first light turn right onto Peachtree-Dunwoody Road, and then at the next light take another right onto Mr. Vernon Highway. Cross back over GA 400, and turn left onto Barfield Road. You will see the new ISS campus on the left. Visitor Parking is behind the building, on Level 4.

From the WEST: Take I-285 Eastbound to GA 400 North and take Exit 5A (Dunwoody Sandy Springs). This will ramp you onto Abernathy Road. At the first light turn right onto Peachtree-Dunwoody Road, and then at the next light take another right onto Mr. Vernon Highway. Cross back over GA 400, and turn left onto Barfield Road. You will see the new ISS campus on the left. Visitor Parking is behind the building, on Level 4.

The Steering Committee meetings (06 and 07 February) are open to all FIRST members, without prior registration.

Please be aware of the fact that at all times you can be asked to authenticate your personality: the TC is a FIRST-members-only event.
