The Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) is a globally focused, US incorporated non-profit association, bringing together incident response and security teams from around the globe. FIRST runs different programs including training courses and capacity building, standards development, conferences, meetings and cyber security information sharing with the goal to build Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) communities. FIRST has over 600 member teams in nearly 100 countries and continues to grow. Our primary mission is to enable our members around the world to work collaboratively and facilitate maturity in global incident response capability.
Managing the architecture, development, operations, and security of FIRST’s infrastructure is instrumental to the continued success and growth of the organization.
FIRST is looking to hire an infrastructure manager. The individual to be hired is not expected to be a subject matter expert on incident response, but should be familiar with the FIRST/InfoSec community.
The main responsibilities of the role are
- Translate the high-level infrastructure goals set by the board of directors and key stakeholders into achievable milestones and roadmaps and prioritize and drive execution
- Participate in the planning and preparation of the infrastructure budget
- Provide architectural direction and guidance to current technical partners in the enhancement of existing services and implementation of new services to better serve FIRST members and the security community
- Meet regularly with the board of directors, FIRST Staff (executive director, secretariat, events team), infrastructure teams (development / operations), and key volunteers
- Successfully manage the full lifecycle of infrastructure initiatives, operational and planning activities, project management, and budget
- Optimize FIRST operations, secure infrastructure and services, and enhance offerings to members
- Continue driving the goals of the identity project to leverage single sign-on services across all services
- Improve membership and registration processes to reduce the workload on FIRST staff, accommodate the needs of the membership committee, and improve FIRST event attendee experience
- Provide members with modern collaboration solutions based on industry standards
- Ensure the consolidation of member services and access to sensitive and restricted information in the FIRST Portal, providing members with a single interface to self-manage all aspects of their membership and team profiles
- Review and harden the security of all services and infrastructure
- Assist with leading response to security events and bug bounty reports
- Carry out any additional infrastructure related activities that may be required to ensure the success of FIRST
- Architect an infrastructure that is scalable and easy to extend with new services
Requirements
- Ability to work remotely, preferably in a US or European friendly time zone
- Business fluent in English
- Some travel, mostly international (less than 10%)
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience / 2+ years management experience (preferred)
- Experience leading and driving infrastructure projects
- Capable in systems and service architecture
- Experience with project management
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving skills
- Experience working with and managing a force of third-party and volunteer contributors and/or working with non-profit organizations (preferred)
- Experience in managing remote workers (preferred)
