Dave Schwartzburg is FIRST's Director of IT and Security, overseeing infrastructure and services and working to help solve the organization's operational challenges. Prior to joining FIRST he was an Information Security Architect with Cisco Systems and a Network Security Engineer with AT&T's Internet Investigation & Security Services group. Dave completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and holds a Master of Science degree in Technology Systems with a concentration in Information Security from East Carolina University.
He has been involved in a variety of FIRST volunteering efforts since first attending the conference in 2009. In 2018 he was elected to the Board of Directors, serving as the infrastructure liaison, and in 2021 he was appointed as FIRST's Chair of the Board of Directors. In March of 2022 he joined FIRST on a full-time basis.
