Special Interest Groups

This quarter we can announce the retirement of three SIGs, and the creation of one new SIG.

VRDX-SIG
We are proud to announce that the Vulnerability Reporting and Data eXchange SIG (VRDX-SIG) has achieved its goal and therefore will retire. This means that the website, as well as the GitHub will be archived.

Cyber Insurance SIG
Despite the great discussions we had during the last 4 years and the effort that was put into this SIG, we also learned that for the goal of the Cyber Insurance SIG - improve the communication between insurance companies, lawyers and cyber security experts - a SIG seems not to be an optimal container. Therefore this SIG will retire by August 1st as well, but we will keep the topic on the agenda within the FIRST community.

Passive DNS Exchange SIG
Also, in the near future, the Passive DNS Exchange SIG will retire - as soon as the IETF approval has been achieved. At the time of publishing, the latest version of the draft is on the IETF Web site here. We are happy that with this another SIG has successfully reached its goal.

AI-Security-SIG
With discussions held at the FIRST Annual Conference Meeting in Montreal, also a new SIG was initiated. The AI-Security-SIG has the mission to advance the use and understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), with a particular emphasis on large language models (LLMs) for security and incident response. You can find more information on the AI-Security-SIG page on the FIRST website.
