The second edition of the FIRST México Technical Colloquium (II Coloquio Técnico FIRST MX 2026) took place this past August at the Westin Santa Fe in Mexico City, and it confirmed something the community here has felt building for a while: Mexico has become a serious, growing node in the global FIRST network.
Over three days, two of conference, and one dedicated to hands-on technical training practitioners from across Mexico and beyond gathered to share research, exchange operational experience, and strengthen the bonds that make incident response a community effort rather than an isolated one. What began as a modest gathering has matured into one of the most relevant cybersecurity events in the region, and the growth is visible in every dimension: more attendees, more speakers, more participating organizations, and a markedly higher technical level.
This year’s colloquium brought together 22 speakers, national and international, under the guidance of a Program Committee that worked to raise the technical bar of every session. The agenda spanned the themes that define modern defense work: threat intelligence and OSINT, SOC operations, incident response, and the increasingly urgent question of how artificial intelligence is reshaping both attack and defense.
Perhaps the most encouraging signal is the trajectory. Each edition of the colloquium has drawn more participants and speakers than the last, with speakers this year reaching 22. An 85% increase over the previous edition. Just as importantly, the diversity of participating organizations continues to widen government institutions, financial entities, manufacturing, and a growing number of cybersecurity firms are all finding value in being part of this conversation.
That growth extends to FIRST itself. More Mexican organizations than ever are taking steps toward FIRST membership, recognizing the value of belonging to a global community of incident response and security teams. The colloquium has become a natural on-ramp, a place where teams see firsthand what the FIRST community offers and decide to join it.
None of this happens without a community that invests in it. Our sincere gratitude goes to AMECS as our host, to our Platinum sponsors Trend AI and Arteria, and to our Bronze sponsors KIO, Arcanna.ai, Nile, CrowdStrike. Their support reflects a shared conviction that Mexico can and should lead cybersecurity in Latin America.
To every speaker who shared their knowledge without reservation, to the Program Committee, and above all to each attendee who filled the rooms with energy and questions: thank you. You are the reason this community continues to grow stronger.
The II Technical Colloquium proved that Mexico City has earned its place on the regional cybersecurity map. The momentum is real, the community is engaged, and the appetite for collaboration has never been higher.
This is only the beginning. We look forward to welcoming even more teams, more organizations, and more members of the FIRST community next year.
See you at FIRST MX 27.
