Diversity and Inclusion

As an international organization embracing hundreds of member teams from different parts of the world, FIRST cares about diversity and inclusion in the organisation itself as well as overall activities including events. A subgroup of the Board of Directors have been working in this area, and one of the recent achievements was to launch the Statement on Diversity and Inclusion.

In our May board meeting, the FIRST Board of Directors approved the first version of our Diversity and inclusion statement. The statement is written by a subgroup of the Board of Directors, with valuable input from the rest of the board, our staff, and the Women of FIRST special interest group. The statement was presented during the opening remarks at the Annual Conference in Montreal. It was also remarkable that this year's conference program committee developed the agenda with diversity and inclusion in mind, especially encouraging women's participation in cyber security areas. This was highlighted by female keynote speakers and also a panel session on Wednesday focusing on empowering women in incident response. FIRST is committed to create a truly equitable and inclusive organization.
