Special Interest Group Updates
General Update
The annual conference is always an important milestone for the Special Interest Groups, as they usually present on what they have done over the past year and many also enjoy getting the chance to meet in person. For those of you who have missed the SIG Updates, you can find the slides on the conference website.
Malware Analysis SIG News
"The Malware Analysis SIG is happy to announce its Learn More about Malware Analysis project. The goal of this project is to educate the community on latest malware analysis techniques. Each week, the SIG will be releasing a small malware analysis challenge based on malicious implants currently observed in the wild. These educational challenges are designed for people who do not have much experience in malware analysis, and they are intended to be solved in about 15 minutes (for example, over an evening cup of coffee).
The challenges are available on the FIRST CTF platform under the Learn More about Malware Analysis category, and the first introductory challenge has been already posted there."
New SIG on the block
Since a few weeks now we have the new Detection Engineering & Threat Hunting SIG (DEaTH) setup that in August started monthly meetings. Everyone interested in joining can find the request form on their site.
