Nestled in the sparkling turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is a breathtaking island nation that blends natural beauty, diverse cultures, and a warm, welcoming spirit. Once described by Mark Twain as the model for paradise, this lush volcanic island is known for its white-sand beaches, coral reefs, and gorgeous landscapes. Mauritius offers a stunning backdrop for both relaxation and adventure.
More information about Mauritius
Local transport in Mauritius includes bus, taxi and metro. However, if you must take a transport from the airport to the Hotel, then it is highly recommended to take a taxi once you exit the airport. The cost for a one–way trip can be around USD 50 (Rs 2300).
From the Airport:
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) is located in the southeast of the island, about 48 km from the capital, Port Louis. Airport taxis are available at fixed rates, and private transfers can be booked in advance.
Taxis:
Taxis are widely available and can be hired by the ride or by the day for tours. Official taxis have a yellow square on the side with their license number. Always agree on a fare beforehand, as meters are not commonly used.
Public Transport:
The bus system is extensive and affordable, with routes connecting major towns and tourist areas. Buses run from early morning until about 6:30 PM in rural areas and later in urban zones.
Rideshares:
Ridesharing apps like Yugo and Bolt are available in some parts of the island, especially around Port Louis and tourist hubs.
Car Rentals:
Driving is on the left-hand side, and rentals are available at the airport and in major towns. Roads are generally good, though narrow in rural areas.
Registrations will be done on the training/plenary/AfricaCERT meeting days outside the rooms from 8:30 am to 9:00 am.
